MAY JUNE JULY AUGUST SEPTEMBER OCTOBER

Note from Isabelle: The 6.5 hours trail ride, up and down Bromont mountain, with 250 other trail riders! It was fabulous and the Curlies (Pritcha and Mister) were awesome. We crossed rivers, jump deep diches, etc. And we talk a lot about horses, especially Curlies. It was a hit!
Note from Cara: OK, I didn't get nearly as much done this week as I had planned/wanted to. The rest of my schedule and the weather was NOT cooperating! But when I did, it was great. I have such an awesome horse ;-) On the last ride we took I freaked my mom out, which was pretty fun. I rode Sunny bareback and for reins used a lead rope attached to his halter. So I just rode all the way down our neighbors lane on him at a foxtrot with my hands on top of my head- what's scary about that?   He's getting much better at responding to leg pressure only for turns as well (though I don't think we're ready to try the bridleless routine yet- I need my safety net!) Strangely enough, he does better riding with no rein contact at the foxtrot, because at the walk his head will just droop lower... and lower... until I have to pull his head up so he won't begin munching on the grass, which of course was his intention precisely.
Note from Lindsay: I'm just thrilled to back in the saddle again after medical issues and all the heat this summer! I saddled back up the last day of August and was thrilled to find Regal was ready to pick up right where we'd left off. We also made the switch to boarding at an eventing barn where I have a lot of friends so I'm thrilled to have new friends to ride with and introduce a curly to the eventers in this area!
Note from Laura: Meeting new people and relaxing!  Denise and I introduced Curly horses to MANY people!  We rode long hours and  rough terrain in search of Elk.  We saw lots of deer and an owl, but no Elk.
From Isabelle: I am working young horses by these days, so the only thing that I could say is: these Curlies are amazing!
From Lindsay: Regal and I did a regional hunter/jumper show this weekend just for schooling and to get back in the swing of things. My dressage curly in dressage tack and dressage frame didn't even place once (class sizes 10-15) ;-P but I was really happy with our performance and had a BLAST!

From Sophie:The bay horse is Ouragan, the sorrel is Tony - Here a picture from Tony at a big trail ! He has a very good friend, another curly horse, Ouragan (straight but gaited). Tony was very quiet and he loves to discover new things and landscapes.

From Cara: The most fun thing Sunny and I did this week was not actually riding. Let me explain! Sunny's pasture is getting down to nothing, so sometimes I will put him in the round pen or just stand out and graze him. I discovered that the most fun way of doing that was sitting on him while he eats his way around the yard. Also, I can actually get some of my studying done at the same time! We also did some fun short bareback rides.
From Erin: Getting a 22 on barrels and a 33 on pole bending even though JJ had been under the weather for the past week.
From Lindsay: Sadly, the most exciting point of my riding week was spending hours in the dark combing a huge cross country field looking for my new cell phone I dropped out there!!!!! (found it!)

From Sophie: It was the "day of the horse" this sunday. I just buy a new curly horse, Ebony's Hedotsa (Dotsy), broke to western style. This horse is old but a true jewel. We made a show with Tony in english saddle and Dotsy in americain saddle, it was very nice and people loved it ! Dotsy was a very good ambassador for the bred because he has a lovely color and curls too, then people was very interested by him.

From Cara: We are getting ready for the Curly Show in a couple of weeks. Hopefully we can make my goals (no, not to win a blue... though that would be nice!) I am working with him on maintaining consistency in gaits and hopefully this next week we will begin to make some improvements on his canter departure/ speed.
From Sophie: I rode perhaps more WITH a curly than ON a curly this week ! My husband, who was not on a saddle since 7 years, loves our new curly Dotsy and rode him for two long trails. I had only my old New-Forest pony to ride with him (Tony will come back at home tomorrow ). Tony jumped very well this week, i'm always a little scary with fences but Tony has a big heart and likes to please ! Brave for two !
From Lindsay: Was excited to have an excellent lesson this week and am looking forward to the Curly breed show in St Louis next weekend!
From Isabelle: It is the best time of the year for riding! Perfect weather, almost no more bugs, beautiful colors everywhere!
From laura: Billy and I ventured out on our own to the Jordan Valley on Sunday.  Billy seemed excited to be in the trailer and going somewhere new!  There were many people hiking and looking at fall colors.  Billy looks so cool right now with his curls starting to come in, so he got many stares and questions.  He is my first curly and this is my first fall with him, so his cool look is all new to me too!!  I even gave him a bath before we left so he would look extra handsome!!
From Cara: I put the saddle back on Sunny for the first time in probably 2 months last night. We both prefer bareback, and he doesn't care for the bridle (only tolerates it) But, we can't do that in the show, so I figured I had better get him used to it again. He was so cute. I whistled to him like I usually do, and he gave me a big nicker like mormal. Then I led him from the barn and he saw his tack sitting on the ground. He paused for a moment, then his lower lip started quivering. He was resigned to it though and stood still while I pulled the nasty (his opinion) girth tight and mounted. We rode with full tack this morning too.  He's doing good. We've been having a lot of fun!
