What is RAC? For those of
you who missed it, each participant gained points by logging hours ridden and also by attending events where they promoted their Curly. The main focus was promotion, and riders were encouraged to get out as much as possible, encourage conversation about the breed and also build a good habit of riding for themselves and their curly. They were also encouraged to share their stories online via the RAC adventures page to inspire others. I really wanted this contest to be about being part of a "Curly Promo TEAM" verses about winning. I held 2 mini contests throughout the 6 month period to keep riders motivated as well - 1. for best promoter, via most stories shared 2. for most points gained in 30 days. Congrats to Laura & Isabelle for those accomplishments as well! .
Thank you to everyone that participated in the RAC contest. This was the first of it's kind contest and it was a great success, thanks to all of you. RAC had whopping 32 total participants, ranging from 8 years old on up. Moms, Dads, Kids to Business owners, Nurses, Breeders and Hoof care specialists! We also had beginners to experienced riders, from trail to show. A variety of folks that made up this happy crew, each one trying to squeeze in every opportunity to ride and promote. We are proud of all of you!
Many of you were of great inspiration even through hardships and trials such as human & equine illness as well as other daily demands kept you from some of your goals. But we appreciate your effort and we hope you will try again next year. To those that shared your stories and pictures with us, THANK YOU, Thank you!
RAC Prizes include:
CHAMPION WINNER - Denim Jacket with embroidery back & left chest.
RESERVE CHAMPION - 12 oz. Champion-Brand Hooded Sweatshirt - embroidered back & left chest
THIRD PLACE - Columbia Fleece Vest with left chest Embroidered logo of choice.
FOURTH - SIXTH place will each receive a show ribbon
To those that turned in your packets or faxed in your forms you will receive a little token of "Thanks" from me within the next couple weeks. Nothing big, just something extra to tell you thanks for the effort you made as a RAC rider. ;-)

Comments from our RAC Riders on the contest:
Even though Sage and I ended up dealing with health issues and injuries this year, it was really motivating for me to participate in the contest. I felt more connected to the community, instead of feeling like whatever Sage and I accomplished this year didn't really matter much to other people at all. It was great getting to share our accomplishments somehow, and great to see other Curlies out there promoting the breed. I am pretty determined that next year we will be out there with them!
